Why homeowners call us first
- John Wood tanks. John Wood is our preferred hot water tank, and we will tell you plainly if your existing tank is worth repairing instead.
- No pressure. You get the finding, the price, and the install options in writing, so you can decide without someone standing over you.
What a standard tank install includes
- John Wood hot water tank, sized for your home
- Removal and disposal of your old tank
- New expansion tank
- New valves
- Copper and brass fittings
Extra only if your home actually needs it: a drain pan, and seismic restraints. Both are usually already in place from your existing tank, so most replacements do not need either. If yours does, you will be told the cost before any work starts — never after.
Price and warranty, stated plainly
- Price: hot water tank replacement starting from $2,000. Your exact price is confirmed before you commit to the install.
- Warranty: 1 year parts and labour on the items we install. Tank warranty: starting at 6 years — manufacturer terms and conditions apply.
- Financing: financing can be arranged.
Keep the tank looked after: Tank Care, starting from $249 a year
Your tank warranty is starting at 6 years — manufacturer terms and conditions apply — and those terms expect the tank to be looked after, including an annual check of the anode rod.
Tank Care is one scheduled annual service visit, about 2 hours. Each visit includes:
- Tank flush and sediment check
- Anode rod inspection
- Temperature and pressure relief valve test
- Expansion tank and valve check
While you stay on Tank Care, Windsor Castle Mechanical extends its own labour coverage beyond the first year, toward the life of the tank. Consumable parts, such as an anode rod that needs replacing, are charged as parts.
Tank Care is starting from $249 a year for members. A one-off annual service without the plan is starting from $295.
Is it time to call?
- No hot water, or hot water that runs out far too quickly
- Water pooling around the tank, or rust at the base or fittings
- Rumbling, popping, or banging from the tank
- A tank that is 10 years old or older, even if it still works today
